The ensembles—which unfold under Poggi’s guidance like lively conversations between two or three musicians—are utterly captivating, and the steady technique and fresh expression of recorder player Lucy Holsch, who has already released four albums on Decca, are truly wonderful and fully justify the album’s popularity. The Irish traditional piece included as the final track is an arrangement by the two musicians; it is a charming and endearing gem that even features double stops on the recorder.
