Werner Andreas Albert (1935–2019) was a German conductor who devoted himself to introducing lesser-known works of the modern and contemporary eras. After studying musicology and other subjects at university, he studied under Herbert von Karajan and Hans Rosbaud, making his debut in 1961. He frequently performed alongside renowned musicians such as Jascha Heifetz and Yehudi Menuhin. He served as principal conductor for orchestras in Germany and abroad, including the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, and from 1981 onward, he conducted major orchestras in Australia, receiving high praise for his performances during his tours in Japan. Furthermore, he led the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra for 25 years, contributing to the development of the next generation of musicians. He is particularly known for his recording activities in collaboration with the cpo label and German broadcasters, leaving behind numerous recordings centered on works by Hindemith, Korngold, and Siegfried Wagner; the rarity of his discography and his masterful artistry are highly regarded by many music lovers. This “Hindemith: Complete Orchestral Works, Vol. 2” follows the highly acclaimed Vol. 1 (999248) and features orchestral works, concertos, and chamber music across five CDs. Each disc comes in a paper sleeve featuring the original artwork and is accompanied by a detailed booklet.
