The "Libera Me" by contemporary composer Nana Forte vividly depicts the fluctuating emotions of the human heart through the intricate interweaving of two choirs, which overlap like a wall of sound. Martin kept his Mass for Double Choir tucked away in a drawer for nearly 40 years, viewing it as a personal dialogue between himself and God. This work, which employs 20th-century techniques while retaining echoes of Gregorian chant, is now considered one of the masterpieces of the 20th century.
