CPO has been consistently releasing works by Leo Fall, an Austrian composer active during the golden age of operetta, and this is their fifth release. The story, reminiscent of *My Fair Lady*, follows an inventor who takes on the challenge of transforming Sonia—a young woman who earns a living by singing on the streets—into an elegant lady in just three weeks, as a condition for marrying the daughter of a wealthy tycoon. Neurauer, who plays Sonia, was born in the Tyrol region of Austria. After serving as a member of the Leipzig Opera, among other roles, she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival in 2013. A lyric soprano active in both opera and operetta, her acting skills shine through even in her vocal performance alone—a testament to her training as a dancer and actor before turning to singing. Shin Taniguchi, who plays the wealthy Brown—the mastermind behind the story—graduated with top honors from the Lied and Oratorio Department at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
