The program traces Raipan’s career and musical roots as she has worked across countries and cultures—from the United States, Germany, and Austria to her current home in France. It begins with works connected to her childhood in America, such as Heifetz’s arrangement of “Deep River” and White’s “No One Knows My Sorrow,” and progresses through Schumann’s “Widmung” and Kreisler’s “Liebesleid,” which reflect her studies in Europe, and Ravel’s “Violin Sonata No. 2,” which connects to his current home. The album concludes with Florov’s Fantasia on “Porgy and Bess,” celebrating the fusion of classical and jazz. The recording features the 1707 Stradivarius “Charles Castleman,” on loan from the Queen Elisabeth Music Academy.
