[Stičkina, the Youngest-Ever Ron-Thibaud Prize Winner, Releases Her Long-Awaited Debut Album!] This is the long-awaited debut album from Sasha (Alexandra) Stičkina, who captured the world’s attention in 2019 when, at just 15 years old, she became the youngest finalist and prize winner (5th place) in the history of the Ron-Thibaud International Piano Competition. Born in Moscow to a family of musicians and filmmakers, Stichkina—who is of Greek-Russian descent—deliberately distanced herself from the competition circuit after her Ron-Thibaud victory, dedicating herself instead to further refining her musicality in Berlin under the tutelage of the renowned Kirill Gerstein. Recorded in 2025 at Teldec Studios with her mentor Kirill Gerstein serving as artistic director, this album features an exceptionally diverse program centered on lesser-known masterpieces that deserve the spotlight, such as Weber’s bold sonata and the dreamlike preludes of Stanchinsky, who died tragically at the age of 26. In addition, the album features Bartók’s virtuosic etudes, the elegant and refined dance pieces of Ravel and Chopin, and Liszt’s variations, imbued with profound spirituality. It is packed with the astonishing maturity of a young talent and a richly colorful, dynamic expressiveness.
