Featuring guest appearances by Pablo Marquez, one of Argentina’s leading guitarists, and Jean-Baptiste Henri, a highly original French bandoneon player—two instruments indispensable to Argentine music—the resulting sound is truly diverse. In addition to Piazzolla’s innovative tangos and Alberto Ginastera’s string quartets and guitar sonatas—which incorporate the songs and traditional rhythms of the gauchos (cattle herders) of the Pampas—the album also features new arrangements and commissioned works by three composers (Fernando Fissbein, Gabriel Sivak, Jean-Baptiste Henri), allowing listeners to enjoy not only tango but also the sounds of diverse folk music such as samba, chacarera, cueca, and baguala.
