Description:
Helmut Lachenmann is a German composer who made his substantial debut when he was highly praised by Stockhausen. In 2003, "The Book" was premiered at the Suntory Hall International Composition Commission Series, and in later years he showed an interest in oriental perspectives on time. Lifetime Achievement Award. Harmonica," which begins with a swirling interplay of various voices, is a concerto work for large orchestra and tuba. The solo tuba, which is active almost without a break for the entire 30-minute piece, is extremely demanding, requiring all kinds of special techniques such as double notes, flutter-tongue, air notes, hitting the mouthpiece, and shouting, in addition to leaping in a wide range of registers. The orchestra and the players have few long phrases, and as they pass notes from one part to another, the rhythm changes depending on the volume and pauses, and the mood of the piece shifts. The piece reaches several big climaxes, but in the end, the music seems to converge on the soloist.Stefan Tischler, who played the solo part, said, "It was a difficult piece anyway, and it was a big challenge to respond to Rattle's fast tempo setting. Klangschatten (Klangschatten)" is an expansion of the "Snap Pizzicato" part of the closing section of Lachenmann's string quartet "Gran Torso" to express the "Shadow of Sound" using 48 string instruments and three pianos. The whole is divided into four parts, each of which creates a variety of acoustics through dry noise, resonance with the G tone, time displacement, and new contact between bow and strings. The conductor is Matthias Hermann, who has been featuring Lachenmann's works for many years. Sachiko Sugawara, one of the pianists performing, is Lachenmann's partner, and the other players are all experts in contemporary music, making for a complete lineup for this performance. Naxos Japan
