Description:

【Long-Awaited Complete Recording! Elite Ensemble Presents Handel's Opera at Its Zenith】 Sozalme, presented by Handel in 1732 during his resurgence on the London stage alongside Italy's renowned singers, following the collapse of the Royal Music Academy. This work, one of the most substantial pieces from his peak period, was performed in 1732, just before he was ousted by the powerful new company (the Opera of the Nobility) formed the following year in 1733. Despite its importance, complete recordings have been extremely rare. The last one, performed by the period instrument ensemble Amore Artis, was recorded in America in 1994 and remained unreleased for over 30 years. This long-awaited new recording features a richly rewarding interpretation staged at the Palace of Versailles. The title role is sung by the young, talented Rémy Brès-Fuyé, who has recently been gaining attention. Alongside promising soloists like Balducci and Pancrazzi, conductor Marco Angioloni himself masterfully sings the part of King Ariate, one of the central roles.Amid the succession crisis rocking Lydia's royal house, King Sazalme of neighboring Mede intervenes. Father and son cease their feuding, and after the villainous advisor departs, Sazalme marries Lydia's princess. Within this narrative, the musicians of Versailles, under Anzoroni's baton, deliver a compelling performance showcasing Handel's masterful musicalization of a story where courage, Anjouroni conducts Versailles' period instrument ensemble in a compelling performance showcasing Handel's masterful musicalization of this tale where courage, apprehension, affection, and conspiracy intertwine. Savor the soloists' nuanced interpretations. Naxos Japan
