Description:
Kabeláč lived in the Czech Republic at the same time as Shostakovich. His works have rapidly gained attention in recent years. In particular, Frusha is focusing on the restoration of Cabellati's works, conducting "Mysteries of Time - Passacaglia for Large Orchestra" with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra in 2014 and the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2019. At the time of his appearance with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, he said, "It is my mission to bring Cabellati to Japan. Cavellati was a versatile composer who conducted and composed his own music while working on radio programs, and left behind many works ranging from easygoing little pieces to profound orchestral pieces that reflect the atmosphere of the times. Of his eight symphonies, the second was conceived during World War II. The first movement has a dramatic content, the second movement has a melancholy melody played by an alto saxophone, and the finale has a fugue that incorporates a motif from his choral work "Hoge (Sorrow)" and a magnificent conclusion with an organ. The finale is in three movements. The album also includes two overtures: Overture No. 1 is a heroic work with a march-like theme, and Overture No. 2 is impressive for its powerful melody and rhythm.
