His performances of Beethoven's works in particular have earned him the nickname "Dr. Beethoven," and he has recorded the "32 Sonatas" from 1997 to 2008, the "Diabelli Variations," the "Complete Violin Sonatas" with Irnberger in 2014, and the "Complete Piano Concertos" from 2020 to 2021. The "Complete Piano Concertos" recorded between 2020 and 2021 are all highly acclaimed. This album was recorded before and after the recording of the complete piano concerto cycle.
