This year's selection includes three symphonies from 1775-76, when Haydn had ample experience composing for the Marquise of Esterházy and had more opportunities to write symphonies for the more extensive instrumentation, as well as the "Toy Symphony," a work that has not been performed since it was discovered in the 20th century that it was not written by Joseph Haydn, Since it was discovered in the 20th century that it was not written by Joseph Haydn, many different theories have been proposed, such as that it was written by Leopold Mozart or Edmund Angela, but there is no doubt that it is a genuine 18th century work whose score existed at least in the 1760s, and it was recorded with rarely used old instruments.
