Description:
This is the fourth collection of Pachelbel's organ works by Matthew Owens, a talented organist who has held various important positions in the United Kingdom. Although Pachelbel is most famous for his "Pachelbel's Canon," his keyboard works were praised at the time along with those of Buxtehude and his contemporaries, and had a great influence on J.S. Bach. Although recordings of Pachelbel's keyboard works have gradually appeared since ancient music performances became popular, there are still few systematic recordings, and this series by Matthew Owens has been eagerly awaited for completion. In this release, we can hear Pachelbel's skillful counterpoint and his original chorale preludes. The works are full of the charm of Lutheran organ music of the time. Owens uses a relatively small pipe organ on this recording, installed in a private residence in East Sussex, built in 2015 by Obertan, a master builder of modern organs.
