Description:
Inspired by the art of Francisco de Goya, Granados composed the piano suite "Goyescas". Later developed into an opera, this work occupies an important place in the history of Spanish music. Granados became fascinated with Goya at an exhibition at the Museo del Prado in 1896, after which he began composing "Goyescas" in 1909, completing the piano suite by 1911. The entire work is composed of a variety of movements that incorporate impressions of Goya's "Caprichos" prints, Spanish folk music, and poetic expressions, and is interwoven with stories of love, death, and fantasy. In particular, the "Words of Love" and the final movement, "Serenade of Ghosts," are known as its symbolic movements. In another work related to "Goyescas," "The Straw Doll El Perere," the composer has incorporated Scarlatti-style technical expressions to create a lively and dynamic music. Dina Stojlkovic, born in 1994, is a talented pianist who began performing at the age of 13 and has won several international competitions, attracting attention early on. She is an avid supporter of Granados and wrote her master's thesis on his works. Naxos Japan
