Bernard Haitink first conducted the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in 1958 and has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with the orchestra ever since. This CD is a special edition from the second volume of the Haitink Portrait, commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Bayerisches Rundfunk Symphonieorchester. Haitink specialized in Shostakovich and completed the first complete symphony cycle in the West to great acclaim.Since then, the orchestra has continued to perform Shostakovich's works, and a performance of No. 15 with the Concertgebouw Orchestra was released on CD in 2010. This performance is from five years later, and while the basis of the interpretation is the same, we can hear a further deepening of the work. (Naxos Japan)
