Description:
Albert Lortzing, known for his opera "The Russian Emperor and the Shipbuilder," was born in Berlin, and although he lived less than 50 years, he left behind many works for the stage. This album contains the overture to his stage works, his only ballet music, music for a play, and two rarely heard Konzertstücks. The Konzertstück for horn was written for August Leuber, a famous player of the time, for whom Lortzing held him in high esteem. The other piece, Konzertstück for trumpet, is a delightful piece that uses melodies that were popular at the time. Marc Gruber, who plays horn on the album, has been a soloist with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2016. Trumpet player Philipp Bader was born in 1996. He studied with Reinhold Friedrich, gained experience with the Kassel State Theater Orchestra and the Staatskapelle Baden, and is currently a soloist with the Cologne Radio Orchestra, as well as a member of the renowned jazz big band.
