Description:
Bottiroli is an Argentine composer. In addition to his work as a pianist and conductor, he was the director of the vocal group Sextet Loreley, and gave popular concerts on the radio and in the theater. As a composer, he left behind magnificent orchestral works in the romantic style influenced by Argentine folk music, but his 70 or so piano pieces are all small pieces that emphasize the romantic idiom and improvisation, and his unique expression flourishes in every piece. The album includes a number of "elegies," including "Triptych," composed in memory of the mother of a close friend, and "Theme and Variations in F-sharp minor" for a family member who has passed away, The collection also includes a collection of music for an imaginary film, "Microfilm," and preludes written in free form. Fabio Vanegas, a disciple of Bottiroli who catalogs the composer's entire oeuvre, gives a performance that conveys the spirit of his mentor throughout the series. Naxos Japan
