She sings a variety of charming songs inspired by the beauty of nature and the seasons. Her vocalization and expression are ingenious and not one-dimensional, as she is highly acclaimed in the world's top theaters. The album's centerpiece, Ricky Ian Gordon's series of songs, "Eight Flower Songs," compares death, resurrection, and transience to the figure of a flower and is a diverse listening experience. We'll Gather Lilacs, placed last, is a hit from the 1945 musical "Perchance to Dream" and has been performed by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Julie Andrews to more recently Katherine Jenkins. The song must have been close to Maury's heart since he was a child. Here, she sings the song emotionally while playing the piano herself. Gerald Martin Moore, who accompanies Maury on the other pieces, is the coordinator of vocal studies at the Yale School of Music, and has also worked as a vocal consultant at the Glyndebourne Festival and the Paris Opera House.
