This album contains a performance of the 2023 premiere of the revised version. Lachenmann, who studied under Luigi NONO in Venice, has long been obsessed with "melodies," and this piece was inspired by the sound of eight horns during a rehearsal of "The Girl Selling Matches" in Madrid in 2008.The album's bonus tracks offer excerpts from characteristic parts of the work and provide a glimpse into the variety of sounds, including Lachenmann's distinctive sound shapes, special horn techniques, and even the noises created by his breathing.
