Description:
Bach interpretations full of spontaneity and depth, showing the depth of the layers of the European ancient music scene. Frank Tüns, a virtuoso flauto traverso who has worked with Philippe Herreweghe and Jos van Immaasel's orchestras and trained many students at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels under his teacher Bartold Kuijken, will conduct a baroque performance of Bach with violinist Sophie Gent, who is also a member of many prestigious orchestras. The group is conducted by the brilliant Bertrand Cuyet, who comes from a family of ancient instrumentalists in Nantes, and together with violinist Sophie Gent, they have recorded a collection of Bach's instrumental works with the talented Belgian group Les Mouffattis. The orchestra, consisting of strings 3/3/2/2/1 plus theorbo and harpsichord, includes the busy low string player Benoit van den Bemden (who basically plays contrabass in this recording; he is also the conductor of the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5). The orchestra is made up of a reliable group of musicians, including the busy low string player Benoit van den Bemden (who plays basically double bass in this recording, using violone only in the Brandenburg Concerto No. 5), baroque violinists Madoka Nakamaru and Shiho Ohno, both active in Japan, and baroque cellist Diana Vinagre, who runs her own Bonne Corde in Portugal. The spontaneity of each part comes alive in this tight ensemble performance, and it is a tasteful reminder of the richness of the Belgian classical music world. The engineering by Rainer Arndt, a master engineer who himself played violin in such old instrument ensembles as La Petite Bande and Il Fondamento, is exquisite, thanks to his keen ear, and through the fascinating interpretations of the three soloists, the characteristics of each old instrument are well conveyed. The three soloists' fascinating interpretations of the ancient instruments are well conveyed. (Naxos Japan) Contents Bach(1685-1750): 1-7. 1-7.
