Complete Works for Piano and Orchestra by Chopin (Volume 2) by New York-born pianist Abby Simon (1920-2019). Originally recorded in 1972 and released as a 3-LP set in 1973, the complete works have been newly remastered and reissued on two CDs, and this is the second volume (Volume 1: VOXNX3032CD). Simon, who studied under Josef Hoffmann, was 52 years old at the time of recording. He plays with a romantic and poetic sentiment that has earned him a solid reputation. Heribert Beissel, a long-time friend of Japanese music fans, conducts with him. This is one of the VOX AUDIOPHILE EDITION discs produced by Elite Recordings, renowned for its excellent recordings, and remastered at 24bit/192kHz. The piano is recorded in a close-up style, and the orchestra is recorded in a recording pattern with depth and breadth.
