Description:
Baroque Meditations that Breathe in the Modern Age. The exquisite musical world of master Steyr, including his own compositions] German master Andreas Steyr has deeply pursued the true face of keyboard music from the Renaissance to the 19th century, playing the instruments and techniques of the period in which the works were written. For his first solo album with ALPHA, he has selected mainly 17th century keyboard music from German-speaking countries and France, and added Bach and his own compositions (!), which are inherited from his philosophy. and an exquisite program titled "Meditations". According to Steyer, many of the pieces here follow the two techniques of fixed melody (in this case, the chant "Pange Lingua," which dates back to the 13th century) and sequents, in which a specific tone pattern is repeated at different pitches. His own composition entitled "Unklange" (meaning "echo" or "reverberation"), which was inspired by a conversation with the composer Brice Pose, was completed after his concerts were severely cut short due to the Corona disaster.Listening to the entire album, the interconnectedness of the pieces and the tradition of compositional techniques quietly emerge, coupled with the flavor of Steyer's natural touch and interpretation, which is nothing short of breathtaking.
