A collection of 20th century flute works by Luisa Cerro and Bruno Canino. The four composers featured on this album were all persecuted by Nazi Germany during World War II and either emigrated to other countries or were sent to concentration camps, but barely survived and continued to work after the war. The recording includes Kuchenek's Sonata, written in a neoclassical modernist style with a familiar melody; Briand's lively "Lost Serenade," which supported the Czech opera world after his return from Theresienstadt; Dessau's piano piece "Guernica"; Schoenberg's Wind Quintet; and the piano work of Gustav Gustav Gustav Gustav Gustav Gustav Gustav Gustavsson, who was a junior composer at the time of the war, and who was a member of the Czech Opera Company after his return from the Theresienstadt camp. arranged for flute and piano by his junior composer Gleisle. The piano plays an important role in each piece, and Bruno Canino, who specializes in contemporary music, gives a superb performance. Naxos Japan
