Sonia Wieder-Atherton, following the release of No. 1 and No. 2 on limited analog vinyl, has made her debut as an unaccompanied soloist. After a number of excellent recordings for RCA and NAIVE, Sonia Wieder-Atherton has recently been recording for ALPHA in France, and her recording of Bach's Unaccompanied Suites is her first full-length album of unaccompanied works. With long-time NAIVE recording engineer Pierre-Antoine Signoret, he recorded two new suites at an old monastery in France, and following the first release in 2020 (Suites Nos. 1 and 2/analog vinyl limited edition), this is the long-awaited second release of the Bach Suites. Here comes the long-awaited second volume. The music is written with deep breaths and slow pace, yet without any over-enthusiasm, and the stability of the original dance-like nature of the music coexists with unique inspiration.Wieder-Atherton, who says, "Playing Bach's suites reminds me of the way Giacometti (a plastic artist known for his slender figures) created human expressions from the clay his hands kneaded," waited for the sun to set at the monastery and began recording in the silence of the night.
