This is a new album by Handel's eponymous ensemble, the London Handel Players. As with the first album (SOMMCD055), this is a collection of arrangements that would have fulfilled the desire to enjoy Handel's works at home in an era when there were no recordings available. In addition to the chamber version arranged by John Walsh, a publisher active in the 17th and 18th centuries, the collection includes arias and overtures from "Samson" and "Radamist," newly arranged by member flutist Rachel Brown and others. The famous aria "Let me weep" from "Rinaldo" is arranged for harpsichord solo by Walston. This is an enjoyable and familiar CD. Naxos Japan
