Armenian composer and pianist Stefan Ermas. Born into a wealthy family in Smyrna (now Izmir) in the Ottoman Empire, he showed his musical talent at an early age, performing works by Franz Liszt at a concert at age 13. 1879 he went to Weimar to meet his idol Liszt, and at his suggestion, studied piano playing techniques in Vienna, where he became He became active as a pianist. In 1879, he went to Weimar to meet Liszt, whom he admired, and at his urging, studied piano technique in Vienna. This album contains four piano sonatas written by Hermas.
