Description:
The great Romanian composer Enescu studied under Massenet and Fauré at the Paris Conservatory. He went on to become a figure on par with Bartók and Ravel; Ysaÿe dedicated a sonata to him, and Debussy attended the premiere of his Symphony No. 1, making him the darling of his era. Centered on the “String Octet” composed by Enescu when he was 19, this album features various works by the people around him. The concept is to offer a taste of their era. The central figure of the project is Nicolas D’Autricourt, a French violinist who has visited Japan, who brings together a group of highly distinctive performers. Naxos Japan
