Description:
Born in Salzburg in 1985, Thomas Albertus Ilmberger made his debut at the age of 15 as soloist in Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto at the Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, where he attracted great attention. In 2004, she signed an exclusive contract with the Gramola label and has released over 40 albums. Brahms recorded the complete Violin Sonatas in 2006, and now he performs three trios, including the Clarinet Trio, with David Geringas on cello and Lilja Zilberstein on piano, both virtuosos in their own right. The first was written in 1854 but revised 35 years later, the second begins in energetic unison, and the third was completed at the age of maturity. All are substantial works with Brahms's typical elaborate counterpoint and beautiful melodies, and the three players, including Ulmberger, weave melodies with exuberance. The Clarinet Trio at the end is a late masterpiece.It can also be played on the viola, and here Ilmberger swaps the violin for the viola and beautifully plays the melancholy melody. Naxos Japan
