This concept album features solo and chamber music arrangements of works for saxophone by Bulgarian-born, Luxembourg-based composer Albena Petrovich. The album includes a concerto arranged for piano accompaniment, "Poem-Mask," a series of songs written for this album that explore the inner world behind masks and makeup, "Dream Lover," which is about loneliness and isolation, and "Two Pieces" written as an overture to the opera "Love & Jealousy," which is also the album's title. All were written for Joan Martí-Frasquier, a specialist on the baritone saxophone. Enjoy the richness of tone and excellent flexibility of the instrument. Also placed last is the 2006-2007 work "Gebet zum Nichterscheinen," a piece for saxophone quartet. The baritone saxophone takes a solo role and has a strong presence. The piece was never published and was forgotten after its premiere, but its inclusion by Kebjar Ensambre on this album will bring it back into the limelight. Naxos Japan
