A collection of works by William Byrd played by harpsichordist Friederike Schreck. Schreck has previously recorded two albums that include Byrd's works, "Time Remains - Music of the English Baroque Period" (OC1864) and "From Byrd to Byrd" (OC1702), but this time she focused exclusively on Byrd's works to explore their appeal. The instrument used for the performance was a restored model of the Ioannes Lukkers 1624 instrument. The powerful and gorgeous tone is very attractive. Friederike Schreck was born in Starnberg, near Munich, Germany, and began playing the piano and recorder at the age of seven. He decided to pursue a career as an antiquarian musician in earnest. He then studied harpsichord and bass with Jesper Christensen and improvisation with Rudolf Lutz at the Schola Cantorum Basel. He currently performs in concert halls in Germany and around the world, and is frequently invited to perform at ancient music festivals. Naxos Japan
