Performed by artists with deep ties to him This is the first recording of the “Cinema Suite” for violin and orchestra, completed by Ennio Morricone—a legend of the film music world who passed away in July 2020—immediately following his final public performance in Rome that January. This collection of arrangements for violin marks the final installment in a series of albums in which Morricone himself dedicated solo parts to various artists, including vocalists, pianists, pan flute players, cellists, and accordionists. The violinist is Marco Serino, who earned Morricone’s unwavering trust and served as soloist on soundtracks and concert tours for 20 years. While Morricone himself would likely have conducted had he been alive, his second son Andrea—known as a co-composer—carries on his father’s legacy and delivers a magnificent performance. While tribute albums continue to abound—such as the much-talked-about *Il Volo Sings Morricone* (SONY)—this work, featuring Morricone’s own arrangements, can be considered the definitive edition.
