This is the second collection of archival recordings by the renowned Swedish pianist Hans Reigraf (1920-2011) for the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation. Born in Sweden, Reigraf was not only known for his excellent teaching at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg during the latter half of his life, but also for his highly acclaimed concert activities. Although Reigraf was known for his performances of classical works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and others, here we hear a relatively rare repertoire of Romantic works. Chopin's Mazurkas and Schumann's Fantastic Pieces, all of which are on CD for the first time. The performances are rich in emotion, from the free rubato and pedaling virtuosity in the Chopin piece, to the songfulness in the Schumann, to the deep and quiet Brahms. Naxos Japan
