Belfast Cathedral, located in Belfast, the capital city of Northern Ireland, is an extremely rare church with two main churches, serving as the parish church of both the Anglican Church of Ireland and the Church of England. Designed by Irish architect Sir Thomas Drew, construction began in 1899, and the cathedral was dedicated in 1904. Choral music has always played an important and central role, and this tradition continues to the present day. This album features the current roster of Northern Ireland's best singers, celebrating Christmas with beautiful carols by John Rutter and others, including Philip Ledger Matthew Owens, who was appointed music director of Belfast Cathedral Choir in September 2019, organist and conductor who studied at Cheetham's School of Music in Manchester.
