Viennese dance music and songs called Schrammel. They are widely popular in Viennese heurige (taverns where new wine is served), salons, and aristocratic residences. This album is the debut of the Divinarinen, an ensemble of young Viennese women who play a variety of instruments, including the Viennese button accordion, the double-necked guitar (used especially in the Schrammeln), and the contra guitar, which was developed in Vienna. The girls play a variety of compositions, including secret and rarely performed pieces found in libraries, as well as works by contemporary composers, making the most of their instrumentation.
