Description:
This is a collection of works by Juan Manen, a composer active in modern Catalonia, and Marc Migo, born in 1993. Both composers draw on traditional Catalan music in their works, and their style is characterized by a novelty reminiscent of Manuel de Falla. Juan Manen wrote many works ranging from orchestral pieces to songs, and since Manen himself was an excellent violinist, the violin concerto on this album is full of beautiful melodies with romantic sentiment. Marc Migot is a young composer who opened his eyes to classical music when his grandfather gave him a CD collection on his 16th birthday. After studying in Catalonia, he moved to New York. He studied at the Juilliard School and is a remarkable talent, winning the 2018 Orchestral Composition Prize. The album includes three works: "Hans Lott's Epitaph" was composed as a tribute to the Viennese composer whom he admires. Naxos Japan
