Desiree Puck, composer and organist, was born in Liège and worked throughout Europe, including Belgium, France, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, and England. By the time he retired to the outskirts of Paris, he had left behind eight symphonies, three concertos, three masses, one requiem, one opera, and numerous chamber works. He was discovered at a young age by Franck, who influenced his chromatic harmonic progression, which developed into atonal and polytonal works, but never lost its romanticism, establishing a unique style that could be called Schoenberg's forerunner. This album, which contains all of his piano trios, is an excellent opportunity to actually see the development of his style over a period of about 30 years. It is performed by Trio Spirial, an ensemble formed in Brussels that has received many awards, starting with the first prize in a chamber music competition in Slovenia in 2017, and is active mainly in Belgium and France.
