Gavetta and Kopatchinskaja's white-hot duo album! Patrizia Kopatchinskaja is a gifted violinist from Moldova who has surprised music fans around the world with her extraordinary projects with each album release. Sol Gabetta is a popular cellist from Argentina who has released many albums, including concertos, solos, and various special projects. The two, who have seemingly very different personalities, have been close friends since their first encounter in 2002, and have performed together in many live performances. This time, a duo album was delivered. The album features works by Ravel and Kodaly, duo works by composers ranging from Xenakis and Ligeti to Wittmann and Markovich, and a variety of works by C.P.E. Bach and J.S. Bach, who have assigned the right and left hands of their keyboard works to the duo. The performance is bursting with energy that does not disappoint, and from the beginning of the album, Leclerc entertains us with a greatly deformed rendition of the original music. Both SOL and PAT are taken from their names, SOL meaning "sun" in Gabetta's native language (Spanish) and PAT meaning "bed" or "sack" in Kopatchinskaja's native language (Romanian). Naxos Japan
