Kjartan Sveinsson, a founding member of the legendary Icelandic post-rock band “Sigur Rós.” He was a member of the band from 1998 to 2013, playing a wide range of instruments from keyboards to flute, oboe, and banjo. The band’s second album, *Agathis Biryun*, released in 1999—the year after he joined—achieved worldwide success. This album features the four-act opera *The Sound of Revelation*, which Svainsson had been producing since 2011 in collaboration with Ragnar Kjartansson. Although it is an opera, there are no prominent soloists; the music, performed by a choir and orchestra, falls under the neo-classical genre that has captured the hearts of many in recent years. From the dark and intense first act to the hope-filled fourth act, meditative and utterly beautiful melodies, reminiscent of prayers, recur throughout.
