The four performers elegantly and masterfully bring to life the intricate architectural structure of Bach’s fugues, which he composed with great care. The “FAST” in SITFAST has nothing to do with speed. It’s an ensemble whose name means “sit firmly”—and by extension, “don’t let your guard down” or “approach with caution.” Member Sakai, born in 1975, honed his skills with Les Tarans Lyriques, led by Rousset. Cheetham is a highly accomplished musician who has performed in Japan at the La Folle Journée music festival and has released recordings on the PARADIZO label.
