Boris Giltburg (piano) Born in Moscow in 1984 and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel. He had his first piano lessons from his mother and studied with Arie Vardi from the age of five. In 2013 he took first prize at the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in Brussels. He has appeared with leading orchestras around the world, among them the Philharmonia Orchestra, London Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Helsinki Philharmonic, St Petersburg Philharmonic, Baltimore Symphony and NHK Symphony, and has given recitals at Carnegie Hall, the Southbank Centre (London), the Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg) and the Auditorium de Radio France (Paris). Since 2015 he has been engaged in a long-term recording project with Naxos. His disc of Shostakovich's Piano Concertos Nos. 1 and 2 (8.573666) received a Diapason d'Or from the French magazine Diapason; Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 (8.573629) won the Opus Klassik award for Best Soloist (music of the 20th and 21st centuries) in Germany; and Rachmaninov's Études-tableaux and Moments musicaux (8.573469) was named Gramophone Editor's Choice in the UK.
