This 2-CD set is full of piano duo works by numerous composers from Haydn's "Teacher and Student" written in the 18th century to the present day. In the beginning, many of these works were written with easy student parts so that the teacher could show the student how to play and teach the student the joy of playing music, but today there are many brilliant works that enjoy the antagonism between the two pianists' techniques. The album includes a series of French modern works, Stravinsky's rarely heard pieces, Grainger's duets, and "Jazz Duets" by McGrail, who was born in 1992, and all other types of works. The pieces played here are all from London. Playing here are London-based pianist & teacher Antony Gray and his students. More than 50 of Gray's students, ranging in age from those seeking advanced training to those practicing for their own enjoyment, have chosen pieces at their own level and are performing them beautifully.
