After the end of World War I, young, hopeful, and talented composers gathered in the central French city, and in 1925, Michel Dillard, a publisher, coined the name "Ecole de Paris" for a group of five of their most outstanding talents: Harshani, Tansman, Martineau, Cherepnin, and Michalovich. The name "Ecole de Paris" was coined for this group of five outstanding composers: Harshani, Tansman, Martineau, Cherepnin, and Mikhalovich. Although they all hailed from Eastern Europe, they were all active in France, but they were also in search of their own musical roots. This album includes world premiere recordings of Harshani's "Rhapsody" dedicated to Piatigorsky, Michalovich's sonata, and other works in which each composer successfully attempted to fuse his own folk music with Western music. Wen-Sing Yang's eloquent cello and Trindle's piano bring out the best in each work. Naxos Japan
