Christoph Zimper was principal clarinetist of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg from 2012 to 2018. In recent years, he has also emerged as a composer, and his works have been performed at music festivals in Vienna and elsewhere in Europe. For his debut album as a composer, Zimper is joined by the Platform K+K Vienna and the Egner Trio, with whom he has collaborated many times before, and by Zimper himself on clarinet, electric piano, and song. The three pieces included are "Pilgrimage," which continues the journey with repeated contemplation, "Quartet for the Turn of the Age," reminiscent of Messiaen's "Quartet for the End of the World," and "Millennial Mass," which takes liturgical form, but without any particular faith or conviction.
