Directed by master director Jonathan Miller and conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock, the opera "Cosi fan tutte," sung by three solo singers each, male and female, is unique for its superb arias, ensemble singing from duet to sextet, and the singing of the six characters in various vocal combinations The production by Jonathan Miller (1934-2019), a master opera singer who passed away in November 2019, is set in modern times and features four young singers with excellent stage performances as the two pairs of lovers Fiordiligi and Dorabella sisters and their lovers Ferlando and Guglielmo. In addition, the production has a rich British theatrical tone, spiced up by Thomas Allen's Don Alfonso and Rebecca Evans's wicked Despina.Thomas Hengelbrock, who was a violinist in Arnoncourt's Vienna Concentus Musicus and later helped found the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, where he conducted and raised his voice to new heights, also plays brass and timpani in the Covent Garden orchestra.
