Description:
Launched in 2017, the B RECORDS label's highly acclaimed series Brahms: The Complete Chamber Works. Led by pianist Eric LeSage, the project features live recordings of Brahms performed by him and friends, and has featured such virtuosos as Lise Berteau (viola) and François Salk (cello) in Brahms' flavorful chamber works! The ninth collection features the works of Brahms. The ninth collection features "Variations on a Theme by Haydn" and "Sonata for Two Pianos. It is well known that Brahms wrote his scores for two pianos as a preparation for writing orchestral and vocal works. The piano version of "Variations on a Theme by Haydn" was written first, and then the orchestral version was completed. Although the theme is simple, it is a technical work with complex counterpoint throughout. The "Sonata for two pianos" was originally composed in 1862 as a string quintet, but was not well received at trial performances, so it was adapted for two pianos in 1864.The work was later rewritten as a piano quintet. This version, which Brahms himself was fond of, makes full use of the beautiful sound of the piano, which is different from that played on strings. The young pianist Theo Huschnure, who won the first prize at the 2018 Geneva International Competition, will perform with Le Sage in this work. Influenced by his older brother Pierre, he began studying music at the age of 3. At the age of 12, he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, where he continued his studies and won numerous competitions. Naxos Japan
