Audiences may remember me as the descendant of a tonal music composer. I am still alive and composing... Walter Braunfels (1946)... Braunfels' music was twice buried in the dark of history, once when the Nazis branded it "decadent music" and again when postwar Germany eliminated most of all forms of Romantic music, including tonal music. The second was when postwar Germany eliminated most Romantic music in all its forms, including tonal music. In the 21st century, however, his music has undergone a revival, and his works have been released one after another, especially in Germany, including this Capriccio series. This album includes works in Braunfels' flexible style, such as the jazz-influenced "Divertimento" and the overture to the comedy "Don Gil in Green Trousers. Gregor Buhl, who is a master of Braunfels' works, conducts the album and conveys all the virtues of the works. Naxos Japan
