Description:
Two masterpieces of cello concertos by a young virtuoso from the Czech RepublicJulien Laferriere, born in France in 1990, was the first winner of the cello section of the newly established Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition in 2017. His album of Brahms, Franck and Debussy was selected for the Diapason d'Or 2017, and ALPHA will release a collection of cello works by Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff and Denisov (ALPHA547) in 2019 to critical acclaim. This album features Dvorak, the king of cello concertos, and Martineau, another great Czech composer and a masterpiece that incorporates new-age idioms such as jazz into the ethnicity of his music. The concerto will be conducted by Gergay Madarasz, born in 1984 in Budapest, who has been music director of the Liège Philharmonic Orchestra since September 2019. With their outstanding technique and fresh sensibility, these two young musicians will breathe new life into two masterpieces of the cello concerto. Naxos Japan
