A collection of contemporary Advent and Christmas choral works sung by two choirs affiliated with St. Catherine's College Choir, Cambridge. Half of the pieces in this ambitious program are world premiere recordings, and the centerpiece is a 1955 antiphon in monophonic chant by York-born composer Christopher Fox, with the original chant preceding each piece. Jeremy Thurlow's Magnificat, placed at the end, is an experimental work using organ and tape. Artificial sounds and voices are fused together to depict a mystical world appropriate for Christmas.
