On the birthday of Donna Clara, the princess in Zemlinsky's opera "The Dwarf," a projection of his own feelings, a "strange-looking little man" arrives from Turkey. The little man, who has never seen a mirror, does not know what he really looks like, and falls in love with the princess at first sight. Seeing the way people laughed when they saw him, the man thought, "I can make everyone happy," and finally confessed his love to the princess. The princess pretends to be attracted to him, but finally shows him a mirror and confronts him with a cruel truth... In this video, Schoenberg's "Accompaniment Music for a Scene from a Film" is adapted as the prologue to the opera into a story of two men and a woman at the piano.
