Description:
Tibor Halsányi was a composer born in Hungary who made his mark in France. He studied under Kodály in Budapest and enjoyed a successful career as a pianist and conductor. From 1923 onward, he was based in Paris, where he formed the “École de Paris” with composers from various countries who had come to Paris, including Martinů, Tansman, Mihalović, and Alexander Cherepnin. He composed numerous unique works that fused Hungarian folk songs with rhythms from North and South America. This album features a collection of pieces that clearly illustrate his distinctive style. In particular, “Dancing Baby” consists of a series of short pieces using various dance rhythms, offering a glimpse into the trends of European music at the time. Furthermore, the collection titled “LASEMAINE = 1 Week” includes a wide variety of pieces, ranging from eccentric folk songs to tranquil nocturnes. The album features performances by Giorgio Koukou, a master musician known for his expertise in works from Spain and Eastern Europe. Naxos Japan
